TechTarget is seeking an experienced Site Editor who will be responsible for managing and maintaining SearchWindowsServer.com. This site provides compelling news, trends and technical advice for IT professionals who manage servers and storage in a Microsoft Windows environment.
The site editor is responsible for the strategic vision and day-to-day success of the site, with the goal of making the site one of the top information sources in its market. The site editor will devise and launch new site features and content packages and position this content to be found in searches, based on an understanding of readers' interests and needs. The position of site editor involves oversight of at least one junior staff member, oversight of freelance contributors and coordination with other members of the editorial team. Site editor duties also involve assigning original material, calendaring and budgeting, working with multimedia, developing industry and topical knowledge, readership surveys and more.
Ideal candidates have 5 years of experience overseeing editorial operations of a Web site, experience handling editorial budget, knowledge of technology-related material, demonstrable success editing technical content and prior experience with multimedia.
Essential Job Functions:
• Develop market leadership of site and work to expand site traffic
• Develop editorial calendar
• Recruit freelance writers
• Assign and edit original material
• Write online content as needed
• Manage site staff
• Participate in media group editorial management
• Develop content packing ideas
• Support Product Management requests as needed
Knowledge, skills and abilities required:
• Bachelor’s degree
• Two to five years experience writing about or editing computer technology topics
• Demonstrated publishing knowledge, understanding of journalistic ethics
• Strong writing, editing and verbal skills
• Ability to manage resources
• Strong computer/Web skills
• Experience with interviewing
• Ability to juggle many tasks simultaneously
• Strong organizational skills
• Leadership ability
• Management skills including the ability to delegate, coach and develop the skills of less-experienced staff
• Intellectual curiosity, innovation, high standards, adherence to deadlines, a competitive nature, and the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
• Willingness to travel
