Windsor Essex Parkway Project is a below grade, six-lane 11 kilometre highway, with 11 tunnels and bridges.  It will connect Hwy 401 to the future bridge crossing of the Detroit River.  Windsor is a unique city to live in with great entertainment and sport venues.  One of Canada’s most southerly cities, it boasts some of the warmest temperatures in Canada.  Parkway Infrastructure Constructors, a joint venture, is recruiting to fill great career opportunities to work with world class constructors, such as Acciona, Dragados and Fluor.  We are currently searching for:

 

Site Superintendent (Structures and Earthworks)

 

Under the general supervision of the Construction Manager, the Superintendent assists in supervision of actual construction and ensures that the work is performed efficiently and safely and in accordance with the contract, project schedule and job cost estimates.

 

Responsibilities:

·         Understands thoroughly the plans, specifications, work schedules, cost estimates and scope of activities for which he is responsible in order to adequately instruct the subcontractor foremen in the performance of the work and to recognize extra work and claim possibilities.

·         Ensures that the construction work is performed in accordance with the contract documents and to acceptable standards of quality and workmanship including company QC Plan.

·         Coordinates and ensures efficient use of subcontractor labour, material and equipment.

·         Communicates with supervisors and management at site.

·         Deals with Union representatives as required.

·         Ensures work is carried out in accordance with company safety policy including OHSA, local legislation and union agreements.

·         Coordinates the performance of subcontractor work in fair and efficient manner.

·         Maintains daily records and provides output records which will be used to establish productivity statistics.

·         Maintains job diaries covering all phases of his work area pertaining to progress, delays, lost time, daily field changes and the conditions or situations encountered which may be detrimental to the Project in the performance of the present or future work.

·         Such other duties and responsibilities as assigned by his/her supervisor.

 

Qualifications:

·         Engineering degree or technical school background with equivalent years of construction supervision experience.

·         Some computer skills, preferably Word and Excel.
