Purpose

The purpose of this position is to instruct, evaluate, and supervise clients to enhance skills that will enable them to meet the expectations of an employer. These tasks are to be completed so that clients increase their skills and their progress is evaluated for possible independent placement. The incumbent will also serve as a working supervisor to ensure that all contracted work is completed.

 

 

Essential Functions

·         Provides on-the-job instruction so the client is able to meet the expectations of the employer, and works with the client to increase their skills and overcome potential barriers to independent placement. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

o       Working with clients to build skills and self-confidence and providing constant feedback, striving for continued individual client progression

o       Individualizing training to ensure clients increase their skills and can become as independent as possible

o       Identifying potential barriers and working with a team to find ways to overcome them

o       Learning all requirements of the contract jobs and ensuring clients are properly and thoroughly trained to meet employers’ expectations

o       Providing coverage for clients, as needed, to meet the daily work requirement

o       Arriving on site at least ½ hour prior to the first client arriving, unless instructor is responsible for transporting clients to the job site

 

·         Maintains an open line of communication with clients and Opportunity staff so the client is provided with necessary training to become as independent as possible. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

o       Communicating openly with clients with both positive and constructive feedback, while giving options for future independence

o       Conducting time studies on clients’ work speeds to ensure payment is within wage and hour regulations

o       Maintaining personal, written, and phone contact with Opportunity Partners staff to monitor the clients’ satisfaction and progress

o       Completing all required paperwork in a timely, professional, and efficient manner

 

·         Acts as a liaison to ensure the communication channel is maintained between Opportunity Partners, Inc. and the Contact person.  Duties may include, but are not limited to:

o       Developing an open line of communication with the Contact person and soliciting both positive and negative feedback to ensure that the employers’ needs are being met

o       Informing Employment Services Managers and Service Planners of any changes to the Service Agreement

 

·         Evaluates potential clients through on-the-job evaluations (OJE) so they are given the opportunity to try different jobs in the community.  Duties may include, but are not limited to:

o       Completing OJE daily and turning them in to appropriate personnel on time

 

·         Engages in personal development activities so the OP services offered are up to date.  Duties may include but are not limited to:

o       Participating in required training in accordance with OP policy

o       Attending workshops, in-service training, and conferences, and sharing new information with OP staff as appropriate

o       Attending monthly staff meeting

 

 

Qualifications:

·         Knowledge customarily acquired through a formal education resulting in a high school diploma or equivalent, two years of post high school training and experiences in the rehabilitation field a plus

·         The ability to understand and effectively use the P.E.A.R.L. interaction style with program participants, interdisciplinary team members, coworkers, supervisors, and other internal and external customer

·         Ability to analyze jobs in relation to client abilities

·         Time management skills

·         Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a company vehicle or transport clients in one’s own vehicle

·         Must show proof of valid motor vehicle insurance

·         Working knowledge of business community

·         Must be able to be self directed throughout the day

·         Communication skills, written and oral

·         Ability to teach job techniques and duties

·         Ability to break job tasks down

·         Ability to relate to individuals with disabilities

·         Ability to work under pressure and react quickly in emergency situations

·         Knowledge of developmental disabilities, Traumatic Brain Injuries and similar conditions

·         Ability to work with a wide variety of people

·         Ability to use Word, Excel and Outlook software

·         Ability to acquire CPR Certification with recertification annually

·         Ability to acquire First Aid Certification with recertification required every three years

·         Ability to acquire medication certification
