The role of Self Managed Superannuation Fund Senior Technical Accountant is to take responsibility for the coordination of all financial reporting and ensuring compliance obligations are supported and met for the Self Managed Superannuation Funds under the MLC SMSF Service.
In this role, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Providing technical training development to the SMSF team Product and Comms areas of the business
- Work directly with the SMSF accountants and external actuary in relation to actuarial reviews for complying pensions and pensions with unsegregated assets.
- Responsible for GST PAYGW obligations, including reviewing of BAS/IAS and lodgements
- Take ownership of continuous improvements and ensure adherence to procedures, process and controls are met to support best practice
- Provide technical leadership to the team and broader business in relation to tax, legislation as it applies to SMSFs to ensure compliance obligations are met.
- Manage in the review of software ensuring the accuracy of the SMSF tax returns, BAS, IAS and any other tax, statutory and industry returns.
- Provide quality reporting to Management on a monthly basis
To be successful in this role you will have:
- 3-5 years of relevant financial reporting experience in a financial services environment or accounting firm
- Proven experience in preparing financial statements, operating statement, statement of financial position, profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flows, tax and notes to financial statements
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting with CA/CPA qualifications (or near to)
- SMSF experience is required and essential
