The Senor Member of Technical Staff - Research position serves a role as a technical expert in our Networking program. Candidates will be required to work on varioius aspects of wired and wireless networking including measuring, analyzing, modeling, designing, and optimizing networks and networked applications. This position requires expert knowledge of modern wired and wireless network protocols, services and applications, the ability to process large-scale network related data, and the ability to build tools that cater to the different groups that plan, operate and manage the network and services. The candidate will work in conjunction with others in coming up with novel solutions to difficult technical problems. He/She should be able to work independently and communicate their ideas clearly and powerfully with other fellow researchers, business units, customers and partners. An SMTS-R shall have a PhD or a Master's degree in Computer Science plus typically would have 0-4 years of relevant experience. He/She should be able to demonstrate a clear agenda for inventive research, and a demonstrated ability to follow through on their ideas. The candidate needs to show evidence of research excellence in the form of recent publications in top tier journals and conferences (ToN, SIGCOMM, NSDI, MOBICOM). Required Qualifications: PhD or Masters of Science degree from an accredited university in an approved field such as Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or Mathematics. Refer to the Technical Title Plan for a complete list of degrees. Entry into this title will require TCP Governance Board review. Desired Qualifications: Typically would have 0-4 years of relevant experience. Environmental Requirements: This position may be responsible for contributing to ATTs compliance with environmental laws and regulations as applicable to its job function. This may include, but is not limited to, work related to fuel tanks, emergency and stand-by generators, boilers, hazardous waste, hazardous materials, batteries, manholes and vaults, water wells, linear and other construction projects, water discharge, or air emissions.
