In our department, we take an end to end, design-driven approach to creating novel sociotechnical solutions, including ethnographic field work through iterative design and development of software, to deployment and study. Our projects include Babble, Loops, the IBM Enhanced Audio Conferencing System, and work on mobile social computing. Some of our notable department accomplishments/awards include: Outstanding Accomplishment in Social Computing, two ACM Fellows, and a member of the CHI Academy.
