Social Media Green Wiki Manager
Part Time, 20 hours per week
New Ecology is seeking an innovative manager with social media and marketing experience and an interest in sustainable development to help bring a newly launched green building wiki to scale.
Buildingwell is a wiki-style website that allows users to share knowledge about greening existing multi-family affordable housing. It is an innovative tool that aims to bring together a national network of users to share and vet information on technology, systems, products and approaches. The scope and reach of the website are rapidly expanding and this is an exciting position with great opportunities for growth. See: www.buildingwell.org.
New Ecology, Inc. (NEI) developed and manages the Buildingwell site. NEI is a cutting edge non-profit organization—one that provides value-added services to other non-profit and private clients and that works to use market mechanisms to promote green building and sustainable development. Description of Position:
The candidate will be responsible for managing the day to day operation of the site, expanding its audience and impact, and attracting users and experts in an ongoing conversation about best and emerging green practices.
Expected Duties:
Site Management
· Oversee content created by network of regional site owners and coordinate communication within the network;
· Monitor discussion pages which includes periodically posting and answering questions;
· Respond to user questions about site subscription, navigation, posting, etc.
Social Media
· Manage Twitter account for the site. Responsible for increasing the number of followers, tweeting Buildingwell links and retweeting related greening stories;
· Administer Facebook page. Responsible for increasing the number of ‘likes’ and using status updates as a method of keeping the page current;
· Draft blog posts and comments; and
· Create and manage a Google+ Page for the site. Responsible for building network of subscribers.
Fundraising
· Identify and apply for grants and other forms of funding; and
· Manage grant reporting
Qualifications and Experience:
Applicants must have social media and marketing experience and have an interest in green building or sustainable development. Grant writing knowledge is desirable. College degree or equivalent experience required.
Applicants should be highly organized, self-directed and motivated to contribute to the growth of the website.
Compensation and Hours:
Salary commensurate with experience. Position is 20 hours/week. Potential for expansion to full time.
