The County of Sonoma is seeking highly skilled professionals to fill one Full-Time Social Service Supervisor I vacancy in the County's Department of Health Services (DHS).
The list resulting from this recruitment will be used to fill current and future full-time, part-time, or extra-help vacancies for the position of Social Service Supervisor I, as they occur during the active status of the list. Bilingual English/Spanish skills at a level that would allow the Social Service Supervisor I to converse proficiently in both languages (i.e., "basic" bilingual skills) are desirable. An examination will be conducted prior to employment to confirm the skill level in this area. Bilingual premium pay is $.90 per hour.
The vacancy is in the California Children's Services (CCS) Division of DHS. CCS is a state program that helps children with complex medical problems. The program provides case management services to children with eligible medical conditions and who qualify financially and residentially. CCS also has a Medical Therapy Program that provides physical and occupational therapy to eligible children.
Under general direction of the CCS Administrator/CMS Program Manager, the CCS Social Services Supervisor I acts as a lead for the Social Service Worker IIs and Account Clerks in the Program, and performs supervisory functions for these positions. The incumbent also reviews the unit’s work on new referrals and ongoing cases for financial and residential eligibility and need for CCS services, as well as overseeing the assessment of residential and financial information and conducting of financial interviews to determine eligibility for services. The Supervisor also has a prorated assigned caseload. This position works closely with CCS families and children, physicians, hospital staff, Public Health and school nurses and related community agencies to determine eligibility for CCS and client needs for other support services and funding sources.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Any combination of training and experience which would provide the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and abilities listed. Normally, graduation from college, with a degree in social work, sociology, psychology or other behavioral science; and five years of progressively responsible experience in a public welfare agency, two of which were at the level of Social Service Worker III would provide such opportunity.
OR
Academic coursework at a college or university in social work, psychology, sociology, and other behavioral sciences; and six years of progressively responsible experience in a social work agency at least three of which were at the level of Social Service Worker III would provide such opportunity.
