Master's Degree

The Social Worker is a Master’s Degree level mental health professional who serves as a member of an interdisciplinary team at the assigned site. He/she provides direct clinical services under the general clinical supervision of a BHS psychiatrist including, individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, and substance abuse counseling as appropriate to the assigned Program. The Social Worker also provides case coordination and therapeutic education services. The Social Worker, at the discretion of the Program Director, may be assigned to train and supervise other staff as deemed appropriate.

 

Education/Experience:

-Master’s degree in Social Work. A Master’s degree in a related field may be considered consistent with the regulatory requirements and clinical needs of the program.

-Experience providing direct clinical service to the population served by the assigned Program is strongly preferred.

-Awareness of substance abuse related treatment issues; clinical expertise in substance abuse evaluation treatment as required by specific program assignment.

-Familiarity with local rehabilitative and supportive resources.

-Organizational time management skills; ability to function autonomously.

-Ability to accept and use supervision/constructive feedback.

-Knowledge of the developmental needs of the patient population served to inform treatment planning and delivery.

-Facility with PC applications preferred.

 

Licenses/Certificates/Registrations:

Must be a certified Social Worker in New York (or have any certification associated with a degree other than social Work).
Additional certification preferred as appropriate to assigned Program (e.g., CASAC for substance abuse treatment Programs).
