Soft Commodity Trader
Purpose of the role:
This position will be responsible to provide advice and specific market knowledge for the development of a trading and hedging strategy for the Soft Commodity division of the Company.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Planning and Performance
- To provide industry knowledge on the derivatives and OTC market situation
- To assist in developing an expansion plan for the business and a sound business plan
- To assist in the developing a market and pricing strategy for each of the clients and geographical areas and this including producers, consumers and merchants.
- To assist in developing a M2M reporting tool for the trading desk which is to be used in parallel to the independent calculations generated by the product control desk
- To provide an insight on the capitalization of trading opportunities and risk mitigations resulting from market volatility conditions and seasonality.
- To assist in identifying sources of relevant market information and reports.
- To analyze technical and fundamental market conditions enabling the establishment of a trading and hedging strategy, an expansion plan and risk mitigating escalation procedures
- Identification of relevant market participants, the role they play in the market place and recommendations for new areas of business generation or risk mitigation associated to credit or counterparty risk
- To provide support for the identification and implementation of trading systems
- Key Skills
- Minimum 5 years related soft commodity experience gained from working in a large softs / agricultural trading company.
- Experience building profitable business relationships with producers, consumers and global trading firms
- A good understanding of the market dynamics and trends
- A solid understanding of exchanged traded derivatives including futures and CSO on softs, grains and oilseed products and the utilization for hedging or trading purposes
- Exposure to physical soft commodity trading and OTC contract negotiations
- A detailed knowledge and experience of all elements of the supply chain of trading physical soft commodities including shipping and acquiring storage facilities.

- Knowledge and experience using IT trading systems in the soft commodity space
