Software Asset Management Analyst recruitment

UBS is a leading global financial services firm. Our Investment Bank is one of the world’s top global investment banking and securities firms, providing a full spectrum of products to institutional and corporate clients, intermediaries, government and hedge funds worldwide.

The Commercial Services (GTCS) group operates within the Group Technology organization. SAM is a dedicated team set up to ensure software license compliance globally, and it has a key role in supporting the overall strategy of the Commercial Services team especially in regard to 3rd party vendor governance.

In addition to engagement in day to day license requisitioning processes globally, SAM are also in the final stages of a project to implement a tool for application tracking / license management. We are also involved in other projects, for example the migration of all users to Windows 7.

SAM’s responsibilities fall into the following key areas:
• mitigating risk of software non-compliance through a duty to uncover and address weak software control practices across the firm
• achieving cost savings and cost avoidance through pro-active management of licenses and software contracts
• provision of support to internal clients across the Bank, predominantly to IT Sourcing and IT Product Owners
• continual process re-design and improvement, to keep abreast of changes in IT and internal systems
• facing off to Vendors in software audits, providing compliance reports and having the technical nous to qualify and verify data sources

Requirements

Essential:
o Excellent time management and prioritisation skills
o Ability to provide high quality, accurate work
o Presentation and analytical skills
o Confident and enthusiastic team player, but with ability to act on own initiative
o Basic understanding of software license/maintenance contracts, and associated compliance/risk issues

Additional/desirable:
o Basic management skills
o Previous experience from within UBS Group Technology or Sourcing would be an advantage
o German language (written and spoken)

o Contract and license management for tier 1 vendors : IBM, Oracle, SAP, Sybase

Essential:
o Technical knowledge of inventory scanning tools, such as SMS/SCCM (for Windows) or BMC Atrium Discovery (for UNIX, LINUX, previously Tideway)
Additional/desirable:
o Flexera FNMS or ECM experience
o Knowledge of existing UBS software tools and processes (e.g. ISAC, GRS, ServiceNow)
o Contract management experience
o Exposure to large distributed IT environments
