Specific Job Description The Configuration Management (CM) Manager is responsible for direction and control of Configuration Management. The CM Manager will provide trained CM personnel to programs, and implement an infrastructure (processes and tools) that will further ensure the principles of Configuration Identification, Configuration Status Accounting, Configuration Control, and Configuration Audits are performed in a manner to continuously meet company and contractual requirements. The CM Manager will further ensure the integrity of our products by providing hands-on and oversight leadership to CM personnel, Configuration Change Boards (CCBs), hardware and software verifications efforts, problem/change reporting (SP/CR), defect density and productivity metrics, documentation/media verification, FCA/PCAs, engineering change proposals and deviations/waivers. Other responsibilities of this CM Manager position include: participating in planning and estimating the CM process from the proposal phase throughout program lifecycles; tracking and oversight of CM budgets and schedules; interviewing and selecting CM personnel to perform CM tasks on programs; developing and maintaining a personal development and/or training plan for CM personnel; reviewing and approving employee; timecards; performing employee performance assessments; ensuring that employees follow company policies and procedures; coordinating disciplinary actions, when required, with Senior Management and Human Resources; ensuring that CM employees have the necessary resources (space, furniture, computer, communications) to perform their assigned tasks; interfacing with program management, QA program management, engineering and others to ensure customer satisfaction; establishing priorities and coordinating assets (people, processes, tools) to ensure program schedules and requirements are met. Knowledge of Manpower Forecast System and Cost/Schedule processes preferred. Research techniques and understanding of government contracts and subcontracts is preferred. Working knowledge of CMMI, ISO/AS9100, and Lean principles is preferred. Standard Job Description Manages the coordination and administration of software configuration management activities relative to configuration identification, control, reporting, and delivery of both internally developed and externally purchased commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software products. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Oversees performance of configuration management and release engineering tasks. Manages the development of software configuration standards and policies for company-wide use. Oversees development and implementation of long term organizational objectives for software process improvement (e.g., SEI CMM), compliance with ISO 9000 standards, and software code reuse.
