Job Description
The Ruby on Rails Developer should be able to design, develop and/or re-engineer highly complex application components, and integrate software packages, programs and reusable objects residing on multiple platforms.
This is agile software development environment with applications and services that support every agency within the Federal Government. (M) IND123
Required Skills
* Experience with moderately complex SQL queries, and how to optimize SQL for performance
* Experience with using and administering NoSQL Databases
* Experience with customizing open source products to meet custom requirements, especially involving authentication and authorization.
* Working knowledge of Linux
* Working knowledge of Apache Fusion/Passenger
* Working knowledge of Capistrano
* Experience learning new frameworks and APIs on the job.
* Experience with and commitment to the Agile programming paradigm
* Experience working closely with clients in the business domain
Desired Skills
* 5+ years experience with one or more of the following: Perl, PHP, ASP/.NET, C#
* Experience with LAMP stack applications
* Experience with Cucumber and other Behavior Driven Development (BDD) tools
Education
Requires a Bachelors degree or equivalent
Experience
* 6-8 years of related experience
* 2-3 years hand's on experience with Ruby on Rails.
* 5+ years' experience with the Java platform, including Servlet API-based web applications
