Software Development Engineer - Java SE
The Software Development Engineer - Java, will play an integral role in the growth, maintenance and support of our real-time trading applications. This role will require core Java SE skills in multi-threaded programming, Swing programming, database interaction, core Collections algorithmics, and performance analysis. Responsibilities will include the implementation of new features to match specifications, implementation of unit tests and automated functional tests to improve quality and coverage, bug fixing for existing features, identifying performance bottlenecks, and serving as a respository for product knowledge spanning customer requirements, product architecture, and common use cases. The developer will work closely with staff in other groups to assist in the creation of specifications, manual test plans, and documentation. Among the possible growth paths within the organization, the developer may eventually mentor other developers, lead a team, and help chart new directions for product growth.

- At least two years core Java SE development experience (not to be confused with Java web frameworks experience such as Spring, Struts, etc.)
- Five years total development experience, between Java, C, C++, .NET
- At least one of these:
- One year network programming experience (socket level protocols)
- One year automated testing experience
- One year experience programming financial market data and/or trading systems
- One year Swing programming experience
- Financial services industry experience
- Experienced with real-time systems, multithreading, performance tuning
- Proficient in Unix/Linux
- Customer support experience
- Moderate communication skills in English
- Bright and energetic
- Very thorough and committed to quality work
- Very strong interest in learning about financial trading systems
- Bachelor or higher degree level education preferred, with a strong preference for a relevant technical degree
