Software Engineer 3 PRPS Job in New Carrollton 20784, Maryland US
Northrop Grumman Information Systems sector is seeking a Software Engineer 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in New Carrollton, MD.
Put your years of experience into a future of excellence as a Northrop Grumman Software Engineer. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Civil Systems Division, in support of the Internal Revenue Service
Paper and Remittance Processing Support contract. PRPS replaces two existing contracts: Integrated Submission Remittance Processing (ISRP) and Service Center Recognition/Imaging Processing System (SCRIPS); two contracts
which process paper tax returns and remittances (checks).
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, document, unit test and debug application software and system problems
• Research and collaborate on complex software and system design and architecture
• Perform analysis, research, problem duplication, and troubleshooting of software defects
• Identify improvement and technological solutions for software and system enhancements
• Follow processes and procedures to identify and implement process improvements.
• Participate in and conduct software peer reviews
• Manage Technical Data Packages from requirements inception to software deployment
• Author software development plans, design documents, proof of concepts, capture and report software defects and
metrics, prepare status reports, and identify and document technology refreshes
• Participate in Configuration Control Board meetings
• Effectively and actively communicate with the engineering team, management, and the IRS Customer
Basic Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet
the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
• Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 5 years of
experience or equivalent work experience in-lieu of degree
• 5 years software and system development with one or more
of the following technologies: C++, MS SQL, VB.net and using it with MS Visual Studio 2010
• 4 years software and system design and integration
• Excellent oral and written communication
• Must be able to obtain a Position of Public Trust Designation
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential
consideration:
• Prior experience supporting the IRS
• 7 years software and system development
• Software and system development and/or design
experience for the ISRP baseline
