Northrop Grumman Information Systems Sector is seeking a Software Engineer 4 to join our team in Huntsville, AL.

This position is contingent upon award of the Ground Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Development and Sustainment Contract (DSC) contract, contract funding, and contract start .

The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Ground Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Development and Sustainment Contract (DSC) in support of the Missile Defense Agency. The GMD element, composed of the Ground Systems (GS) and Ground Based Interceptor (GBI) components, is a critical part of our nation's layered Ballistic Missile Defense System providing the U.S. with the capability to engage and intercept long range ballistic missiles during midcourse flight. The GS component provides the capability to process data received from radars and overhead sensors, communicate across a complex network of redundant nodes, interact with the Warfighter, compute intercept solutions, and command and direct the GBI to intercept. Northrop Grumman has needs in the following GS areas:

GMD Fire Control (GFC) - Battle Management, Command and Control hardware and software

Test Exerciser (TEx) - Simulation test environment

External Systems Interface (ESI) - Interface to external BMDS elements

GMD Communications Network (GCN) -Secure local and wide area network

In-Flight Interceptor Communication System (IFICS) Data Terminal (IDT) - Hardware and software providing RF communications link between GS and the in-flight GBI

Command Launch Equipment (CLE) - Interfaces with the GBI silo, providing the trajectory and the command to launch to the GBI

Position Description:

Basic Qualifications - To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

Bachelors Degree in a technical discipline or related field with 9 or more years of related experience. An additional 4 years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.

Active or ability to obtain Secret Clearance.

Software design and implementation experience with object-oriented programming languages, such as, Ada 95, C++, or Java and developing, compiling, linking, and debugging code or scripts on a Unix or Linux operating system.

Experience with performance analysis, integration, or formal testing.

Experience with software component integration in a lab environment and code management experience.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong problem solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications - Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

  • MDA experience.
  • GMD experience. Specifically, experience designing and developing GMD Ground Systems software.
