SOFTWARE ENGINEER / ARCHITECT

Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for a SOFTWARE ENGINEER / ARCHITECT - ENTERPRISE LOGISTICS SOLUTIONS TEAM at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

The primary focus of this position will be to provide technical design, application analysis, and development expertise within the Application Solutions Enterprise Logistics Solutions team. This team is responsible for enhancements and support of the Logistical systems that sustain the Liquid Bulk and Packaged Gases Supply Chain. This position will require knowledge of development languages such as VC++, C# and SQL Server. Level 3 troubleshooting and technical architecture analysis will be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design and enhance a suite of Logistics applications supporting the Air Products Liquid Bulk and Packaged Gases businesses using VC++, C# and MS SQL.
• Responsible for application analysis, design, development, integration, enhancements and 3rd level technical support.
• Interface directly with partners and business representatives in design, development and troubleshooting efforts.
• Accountable for understanding business requirements and functional/technical specs.
• Partner with Technical Leads to help develop technical specifications based on functional specifications and client input.
• Participate in the implementation phases of the project process. Share responsibility for leading and coordinating the technical tasks on these projects.
• Coach and provide assistance to developers and other colleagues in Application Solutions Delivery. Facilitate the exchange of technical knowledge across the Global IT technical community.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• A bachelor’s degree in a relevant Information Technology curriculum (e.g., Computer Science).
• Minimum 3 years of development skills in C++/VC++, .NET C#, ASP.NET and SQL Server.
• The ideal candidate will have a strong, broad knowledge of application architecture, development, design, and IT infrastructure.
• Development experience with Microsoft’s .NET Framework and Visual Studio IDE, using C# as the development language.
• Knowledge and experience in applying object-oriented design and implementation.
• In depth knowledge of the Application Development Lifecycle(s).
• Ability to manage multiple project priorities and competing demands.
• Ability to be an individual contributor and be part of a focused development team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Practical knowledge of the Supply Chain business processes.
• Web Application development experience including ASP.NET. Experience with MVC and jQuery technologies a plus.
• Experience interfacing to, and code development for mobile applications is a plus.
• Experience with logistical scheduling systems is a plus.
