Software Engineer II - C++ on UNIX
Job Description:
Raytheon is seeking a highly motivated Software Engineer that works with minimal supervision/guidance. Will work in a team environment to design, code, test and deliver new/modified functionality in support of the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) Interface Data Processing Segment (IDPS). The IDPS consists of specialized hardware and software to process JPSS globally collected multi-spectral data into weather and environmental data products. Some positions are conversion of scientific code to operational scientific code to modern coding conventions. Responsible for design and implementation of designated software components. Works for subsystem lead and with systems engineers to ensure proper implementation of requirements and concept of operations. Works with subsystem test engineers to ensure proper verification of subsystem requirements. Responsible for physical interface definitions of the component. Responsible for the component software design model. Participates in peer reviews, including critiquing designs and sufficiency of unit level testing. Provides tradeoffs between reuse options, OM implications, and cost/schedule/performance issues. Supports subsystem risk identification. Provides weekly status (technical and schedule) for own tasks.
Basic Qualifications/Required Experience:
Requires a minimum of a BA/BS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or an applicable engineering or technical subject plus a minimum of two years of applicable work experience.
Requires two or more years of experience performing software development engineering using C++.
Must have one year or more software development experience on a UNIX operating system.
General knowledge of other disciplines and how they relate to software engineering, including systems, hardware, integration/test, configuration management, and quality engineering.
Ability to manage time and resources to meet assigned deadlines.
One or more year experience using MS-Office suite of tools (e.g. Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint).
REQUIRES US CITIZENSHIP.
Requires eligibility to satisfy requirements for a Secret security clearance - candidate must be able to pass a National Agency Check (NAC).
Desired Skills:
Experience on teams that used XML, Rational Rose, Unified Modeling Language, ClearCase, and Slate.
Training and/or experience in Object-Oriented methodology.
Training and/or experience developing web applications using servlets, JSPs, HTML.
Training and/or experience developing or supporting code written in Fortran.
Experience reverse engineering software and optimizing it for run time execution.
