Software Engineer III - IP Networking / C / C++
Position Summary
We are looking for talented software engineers with a knack for solving difficult problems. Appropriate candidates should be excited about delving into complex customer configurations, be able to deliver rapid fixes for critical problems, have an eye for software quality and an interest in making our products as fast, reliable and usable as they can be.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate performance of products; tune, re-evaluate the design and implementation of current source code.
- Diagnose, document and resolve product issues found in the field.
- Serve as sustaining subject matter expert for at least one functional area.
- Assist in design, architecting of features for F5 products.
- Implement and maintain features/functionality for F5 products.
- Document software designs via functional specifications and other design documents.
Qualifications
- Four plus years of experience in multi-platform network software development.
- Bachelor degree in computer/engineering related field or equivalent work experience
- Strong operating system/networking experience such as sockets, database management, and multi-threaded applications.
- Extensive background in TCP/IP networking and UNIX based operating systems preferred.
- Strong C/C++ programming skills.
- Linux development experience a plus.
- Strong grasp of IPC mechanisms, RPC, TCP/IP, HTTP, SSL preferred.
- Experience with TCL, STL, FTP, DNS, Multi-casting a strong plus.
- Strong experience with Perl, Bash or Python a strong plus.
- Ability to interact with users of the product.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Duties are performed in an office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table. This position requires the ability to use a computer keyboard, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material. Duties may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
