Purpose of Position Oversee installation, configuration, and maintenance of highly-scalable enterprise-level communication/collaboration services to assist faculty, staff, and students. Provides system architecture analysis/support for Enterprise Service Bus, Bulk-email and Secure Messaging applications, and ERP Workflow services.
Essential Functions Installs, configures, and maintains system components, application servers, and libraries that support enterprise services for a large university campus. Designs and writes system programs to optimize and/or simplify systems-related tasks. Consults with stakeholders to identify hardware and software needs. Makes recommendations to enhance the systems and monitors to achieve optimum performance levels. Coordinates and conducts software installation and upgrades to software. Ensures server data integrity by evaluating and confirming a schedule of system backups. Maintains systems in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. Coordinates with other departments to help develop documentation for support staff and end users.

Required qualifications Possess a broad knowledge of software development and operating system principles including application server configuration and operating system scripting. Experience with the configuration and optimization of 2 or more enterprise-level services/applications. At least 2 years Java application development experience. Expertise with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in systems administration. Able to analyze and resolve complex technical issues to meet needs of faculty, staff and students with widely varying technical backgrounds. Demonstrated ability to work independently and without day-to-day supervision on highly varied technical tasks with changing priorities. Basic programming experience. Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Strong written and verbal communication skills with both nontechnical and technical users. Professional demeanor with excellent oral and written communication skills as a member of a team. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications Experience with application development middleware (APIs, Enterprise Service Bus (ESB), etc.), web services (REST, SOAP) and/or Enterprise Resource Planning systems. Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or equivalent field. Five years of professional experience in Linux/Unix-based system integration, administration, and support. Experience working within virtualized environments, particularly VMWare. Experience with system monitoring, performance tuning, automated incident response systems, change management processes, network management, information security, distributed computing environments. At least 3 years Java application development.
