Software Engineer
The Software Engineer will be part of a team responsible for support and development of the company's software products using the latest technologies in languages (primarily Java), methodologies, operating systems, and databases.
Responsibilities
- Design, development, test, troubleshooting, documentation and maintenance of complex software applications.
- Design and coding of ancillary subsystems, utilities and scripts to support production systems.
- Resolving program support deficiencies identified by senior development staff.
- Implementing corrective actions.
- Completing documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance.
- Interacting with members of the QA team to provide technical support while products are undergoing QA.
- Providing Second Level Production Support on an as needed basis to ensure the correct functioning of the production systems on a 24/7 basis.
- Other duties as assigned.
The Software Engineer will work under the general supervision of senior development staff at all times and will be required to present design approaches at reviews conducted by senior development staff. Some level of client interaction may be required in order to facilitate the Production Support role. Software Engineer work assignments will include resolving problems and documenting solutions.
Qualifications
- Requires a BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- A minimum of two years experience in software development working in Java.
- Some level of prior industry experience is desirable.
- Candidate should be able to demonstrate problem solving and analytical ability.
- Knowledge of and experience with distributed/concurrent systems.
- Other highly desirable skills/experience include:
- SQL
- Web services development
- Knowledge of common Java open source tools (Tomcat, Jakarta project etc.), security, networking and handling very large data sets.
