Software Operations Manager
Job Summary:
Create and manage the software policies, procedures and metrics to be followed for all software development. Plan and coordinate the staffing needs across the teams and providing augmentation to the teams as needed. Apply communication and problem-solving skills to actively assist software developers on issues related to the design, development, deployment and operation of mission-critical software systems. Provide roadmaps and strategies to ensure increased quality and efficiencies.
Requirements:
- Responsible for the creation and documentation of software policies and procedure
- Responsible for the definition and compilation of metrics to ensure policies are being followed
- Responsible for reviewing proposals and contract as required
- Develop project plans specifying goals, strategy, staffing, scheduling, identification of risks, contingency plans and allocation of available resources.
- Formulate and define technical standards for the software organization.
- Prepare status report and keep management, clients and others informed of development status and related issues.
- Keep informed on recent developments in software development.
- Ensure all software related activities comply with the global compliance standards and procedures.
- Manage the software quality/services resources to augment teams as needed.
- Work with other groups in order to ensure alignment with requirements and dates.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Demonstrate managerial and software development experience.
- Strong project management, analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
- Demonstrate high-energy level and strong work ethics.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and issues to agreed time, resources and cost deadlines. Excellent customer service, team development, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills as well as formal presentation skills.
- Knowledge of software development tooling (SCM, debuggers, bug tracking, quality metrics) is preferred.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or closely related discipline or equivalent.
- Must have a minimum of three years of overall experience in managing software development.
- Must have a minimum of seven years of demonstrated software development experience.
