Software OS Feature Test Engineer Job in St. Paul 55101, Minnesota US
As part of the Research and Development organization, this software position will focus on operating system feature testing for state of the art Cray Supercomputer systems.
The successful candidate will be able to:

- Review feature design documentation
- Brainstorm test approaches with feature test peers and development team
- Create test plans defining how features can be tested with new, existing, modified, or third party test software
- Design, implement and execute new manual and automated tests
- Isolate and troubleshoot test and feature failures
- Articulate findings
- File bug reports
- Evaluating features for release readiness and availability to customers
- Write feature test reports
The main goal is an automated set of tests for each feature, so good programming in C and/or scripting skills are necessary. Automated feature tests will be integrated into the RD OS System test suite.
There will be off-hours work to take advantage of evening/night time machine availability. A portion of this off-hour work can be performed via telecommuting.
Required Skills :
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, electrical engineering or commensurate experience
- 5+ years of development or testing experience
- Programming skills in C
- Fluent in at least one common scripting language (e.g.; ksh, bash, Perl, Python)
- In-depth knowledge of Linux or UNIX system software
- The ability to quickly come up to speed in large, complex systems
- Good problem solving skills
- A willingness to work off-hours when needed
Desired Skills:
- Experience with highly parallel, clustered, or supercomputing systems
- UNIX or Linux kernel development or test experience
- Experience with GPUs
- Software test experience
