I am seeking a rock-star software product manager for a leader in the smart-grid/AMI and water utility spaces to come in and hit the ground running. The successful candidate will be responsible for software product planning and product marketing for our software system by preparing market requirements and functional requirements documents. This position includes managing our software throughout the product lifecycle, gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, and working closely with engineering/quality assurance, to deliver winning products. It also includes working with sales, marketing and support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. Duties
· Specify product market and functional roadmap for current and future products by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to existing and prospective customers as well as business partners.
· Contribute to product roadmap planning and development
· Drive a product solution to completion and release across teams including Development/Engineering and Quality Assurance.
· Interact with sales and marketing to develop market positioning papers and presentations
· Interact with customers and business partners on new product solutions.
· Contribute to technical architecture decisions; limited software development, query development may be necessary.
Requirements
· BS/BA degree required, preferably in Computer Science / Engineering / Business (MS or MBA desirable)
· 5+ years of software development or product management experience
· Utility industry experience desirable.
· Experience in working with cross-functional teams
· Knowledge in technology and software development.
· Knowledge of utility industry, especially the water industry
· Technical skills in Software development life cycle and engineering highly desirable.
· Strong analytical and cross-group collaboration skills to bring the organization to consensus on decisions on both short and long-term product plans
· Excellent oral and written communications skills
· The ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously
· The ability to think differently, challenge conventional wisdom, and drive new best practices
