Software Project Lead (Physical Security Systems)

Software Project Lead (Physical Security Systems) position available in Marina Del Rey, CA:

Marina del Rey, CA office seeks a mission critical Software Project Lead to support its Surface Transportation Security Systems Division. The job responsibilities for this position are as follows :

• Oversee and manage IT system development and implementation of a rail transportation project

• Manage day-to-day activities concerning subcontractor and project team's tasks

• Develop project plans, manage project budget and schedule

• Heavy customer interface is required

• Experience in software systems integration (putting together back office system where software needs to be deployed) with Linux and Windows

The goals for the first 6 months to a year are as follows:

• Act as Project Lead of technical efforts for two projects in parallel with many more over the span of 3+ years

• Ensure the project is completed on schedule, within budget, and with customer satisfaction

• Complete  PM training in accordance with PM System requirements

• Ensure all  ISO, CMMI, and software engineering policies and procedures are implemented on all projects

• Lead programming initiatives with Software Engineers, give tasks to take schedule

• Function as liaison between development team and customers

The main duties within this Lead role are:

• Leading team (good communication, respect for deadlines/timelines/high-visibility customers)

• Scheduling (Primavera, MS Project)

• Interaction with customers (ability to speak technically about projects)

• Documentation (oversee and step-in when necessary using Word or Visio)

Required Experience: At least 8 years of technical experience to include; 2 or more years of project leadership experience and 5 or more years of software development and systems integration experience is required. Ability to handle multiple tasks is required. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office Application Suite or Primavera.

Desired Experience: Experience with freight railroad or transit agency projects is a plus. Knowledge of project planning tools, including Microsoft Project and Primavera are highly desirable.

Education/Certification Requirements: BS degree in an engineering discipline is strongly preferred.
