Software Project Manager Job in Vancouver, British Columbia Canada

On behalf of our client in the Lower Mainland, Ignite Technical Resources is looking for a Software Project Manager for a 6 month contract opportunity with our large client.

 

Position description:

The Project Manager will create and execute on a plan to implement a third party software product that enables Tiered one, two and three IT operations support. The software follows a SaaS model, so experience in this area will be beneficial. The project will introduce new processes and will lead the retirement of some current systems for many distributed teams; experience in positively supporting and managing significant concurrent change will be key to a successful outcome.

 

The Project Manager will manage the entire project lifecycle including developing project plans collaborating with operations team Managers and project Leads, identifying appropriate resources needed, assigning individual responsibilities, developing schedules, and coordinating deliverables to ensure timely completion of projects.

 

The position directs and coordinates a cross-functional team and manages inter-project dependencies and communication. The Project Manager will ensure that the formal project management methodologies established by our client’s Project Management Office (PMO), are followed.

 

Roles and responsibilities:

·         Initiates projects following appropriate project management methodology including gathering and defining project requirements, developing project charters, project plans, schedules, identifying staffing requirements, and forming project teams.

·         Selects and follows project management methods, procedures, and quality objectives, and tracks metrics for assessing progress.

·         Balances workload, provides technical and analytical guidance and work direction to project team, including scheduling, assignment of work, review of project efforts and removal of roadblocks which may inhibit project success.

·         Ensures that all team members have the tools and training required to perform and communicate effectively, and provides the team with constructive feedback as it pertains to project performance.

·         Assesses variances from the project plans, budgets and schedules, develops and implements changes as necessary to ensure that the project remains within specified scope and is within time, cost, and quality objectives, and keeps management aware of the situation.

·         Conducts formal review with business sponsor and Program Manager at project completion to confirm acceptance and satisfaction.

·         Develops and maintains a productive working relationship with project sponsors, vendors, key clients and project team members.

·         Work with project teams to integrate change management and communication activities into the overall project plan.

 

Skills and qualifications:

Education:

·         University degree in an IT-related discipline or Business Administration or commensurate experience

·         Demonstrated ongoing career development through active and self-motivated professional development in the field of project management. 

·         Project Management Professional designation is an asset. 

·         ITIL certification or experience beneficial

 

Work Experience:         

·         Minimum 9 years of software project management experience demonstrating progressive responsibility preferably in a public sector environment or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

·         Experience implementing SaaS product solutions beneficial

·         Solid knowledge of software project management methodology and best practices

·         Comfortable with classic waterfall and agile methodologies and can combine the best of both for an optimum outcome

·         Knowledge of IT application development and implementation best practices, “rules of thumb”, and benchmarks

·         Experience in IT Operations support practices, organizational change management, and risk management

 

Skills:

·         Superior leadership, consulting, facilitation, consensus building, conflict resolution, and negotiation and team-building skills

·         Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

·         Excellent communication skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking, and presentation).

·         Ability to build relationships, consult with customers and potential customers.

·         Ability to multi-task and work in an environment experience change.
