Software Release Engineer
Role and Responsibilities:
The Software Release Engineer role requires a minimum of three years documented application Build and Release engineering experience on Windows platforms using Install Shield. The candidate will work closely with development teams to create deployment solutions for ARGO’s Enterprise Software that can be distributed to new and existing customers.
Day to day tasks include:
· Applying wide ranges of software engineering principles and best practices in the areas of software installers
· Developing and maintaining required software installation packages and assisting in reproducing and diagnosing software and driver installation issues.
· Creating backup and upgrade scripts, patches and utilities using upgrade and software versioning best practices
· Executing unit testing and participate in overall system level testing efforts.
· Implementing Installation functionality based on design and specification.
· Developing and maintaining documentation based on requirements specifications.
Requirements:
· Comprehensive experience with Install Shield 2011 or greater (including Install Shield Scripting) and Windows Installer (MSI) technology in preparing installation programs for mass-deployment (minimum of two years of experience)
· Extensive experience with configuration management of commercial software products in a Microsoft Windows environment (minimum of three years of experience)
· Strong knowledge of installing and uninstalling device drivers on Windows platforms
· Strong knowledge of industry accepted Software Configuration Management practices, policies, procedures and standards
· Two years of C/C++ development experience
· Familiarity with various build, testing, development, and release tools
· Experience with analyzing functional specifications and formulating installation architecture and requirements
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science (CS)
· 3+ years’ experience designing, creating, and maintaining software installation packages
· U.S. Citizen or permanently authorized to work in the United States.
· Availability to travel up to 25%
