As a Software Support Scientist/Specialist you will provide first class technical support for Accelrys solutions, with a focus on the Accelrys scientific informatics platform. Providing timely, accurate and comprehensive responses to customer issues throughout Europe via email, telephone and on-site customer visits, you will be a key member of the European support team and consistently demonstrate advanced problem solving and investigative skills in resolving customer issues

This role requires strong trouble shooting skills and the successful candidate will possess a good knowledge of server technologies (UNIX/Linux or Windows) and Oracle database administration, combined with a scientific background in Chemistry or Biology. Experience with Accelrys technology is definitely a plus!

Due to the high customer facing/interaction levels of this role, the position requires outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to manage customer issued with tact and diplomacy.

 

 

·         Provide timely, accurate, and comprehensive responses, via phone or email to customer issues.

·         Exhibit advanced problem solving and investigative skills in solving customer issues normally resulting in quicker and more accurate problem resolution.

·         Show resourcefulness by demonstrating the ability to use a variety of resources and tools to investigate and solve customer issues.

·         Record bugs reported by customers and communicate the bug fixes to the customers.

·         Completely document all customer related activities following standard procedures.

·         Demonstrate satisfactory knowledge of the applicable software products.

·         Knowledge of existing bugs in the software, analysis of customer reported bugs and ability to suggest workaround.

·         Communicate issues to RD, Sales and Marketing as appropriate.

·         Involvement in the release engineering and certification processes, attending release meetings, bug priority assessment, etc.

·         On site customer visits as required by the business.

·         Contribute solutions to the Accelrys Knowledge Base.

·         Deliver support in accordance with current support policies, goals and metrics.

 

 

 

 

 

·         A degree or similar qualification in either Computer Science, Chemistry, Biology, Computational Chemistry/Biology or Bioinformatics

·         Server administration skills required, either on UNIX/Linux (user administration, Perl scripts) or Microsoft Windows Server (active directory).

·         Proven experience and a successful track record in providing technical support for n-tier applications.

·         Fluent German speaker, plus fluency in English in both written and verbal communication.

·         Working knowledge with Java and JavaScript based web application development desired.

·         Working knowledge with Citrix XenApp and other virtualization technologies highly beneficial.

·         Related industry experience and experience with Accelrys products a plus.

·         Strong Oracle SQL and database administration skills highly advantageous. Experience in analysing Oracle relational data models. Ability to review and write PL/SQL scripts.

·         Self-driven, self-motivated and the ability to work independently as well as a team player.

·         Excellent interpersonal skills combined with strong organisational and analytical skills.

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·         Exceptional problem solving skills.

·         Ability to set priorities and execute against these.

·         Manage customer situations with tact and diplomacy.

·         Ability and willingness to travel up to 15 % of the time.
