Solution Applications Architect

We are looking for a metering systems Solution Application Architect to join our client’s growing team.

MUST HAVES:

- Must be an individual contributor

- Degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems, Computer Science recognized by a Canadian professional engineering licensor

- Excellent communication skills

- Relevant experience working with SQL Server, including operation, performance tuning and troubleshooting

- Working knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) with ability to write moderately complex queries

- Ability to negotiate and manage scheduling and resource requirements

- Strong understanding of electrical terminology and concepts

- Ability to travel to other company locations and customer sites within Canada

 

OVERVIEW:

The Solution Application Architect is responsible for

-Managing and directing cross-functional technical and development teams to address and solve business issues.

-Identifying information technology architectures and facilitates architecture development with a clear line of sight to business goals.

-Designing and directing governance activities to ensure compliance with the application and enterprise architecture.

-Developing and leading the implementation of application standards that have an operational and financial impact on the company.

-Defining and maintaining integration models, and the conceptual and logical application patterns and services.

 

He/she also:

1. Ensures the effective, efficient integration and upgrade of all systems to ensure alignment with disparate platforms and various middle ware components

2. Researches and recommends options and opportunities in area(s) of technical expertise, regarding system development tools, design, purchase, deployment, maintenance and evolution

3. Consults with development teams to develop prototypes utilizing current and/or new technologies; demonstrates production viability, cost/benefit; performs research and development as required by industry or application(s)

4. Stays abreast of current and future technology(ies) in area of development tools and interface design

5. Supports software migration and IT environments from legacy environment to current global solutions

6. Acts as a technical mentor for developers, ensuring optimization of developer pool skill set enhancement

7. Defines methodology and rules for data security, and ensures their implementation in the applications. Coordinates with infrastructure teams and identifies the needs related to the applications architecture.
