Solution Architect

You will be working alongside PreSales Solution Engineers, Sales, Service Delivery Manager and Support in achieving the segments financial target by designing the perfect solution for our clients challenge. You will accomplish this by identifying, technically qualifying and addressing prospect’s technical requirements by normal consultative methods. As Solution Architect L4, from time to time you will be leading and mentoring more junior members of PreSales on sales opportunities

You will have confidence in knowing your skills, you are calm and collected under pressure and always available to mentor the less experienced. Your colleagues see you as a good team player who is keen to share knowledge as well as to listen and learn from others. You have on occasions managed a large strategic opportunity but have needed a little guidance

There are five grades within the PreSales career family; SE I (SE LI) is focused on entry level, small designs for existing customer upgrades, small new business opportunities and working in a virtual team on larger designs. As SE LII or Senior SE (LIII) you will be focused at a scaling level complexity of customer solutions from existing customer and new. As a Solution Architect (SA LIV), you will be focused on larger, more commercially complex enterprise solutions. And as a Senior Solution Architect (SSA LV) you will also managing solutions as SA LIV but with additional complexities that includes thought leading IT strategy development and mentoring SE’s within the team.

  • Consulting with both potential and existing customers, often looking for new opportunities
  • Leading exploratory conversation via phone or face to face with customers
  • Presenting solutions to IT Business Directors
  • Travelling to customer offices
  • Attending Trade Shows to sell Rackspace’s offerings
  • Leading the technical interests in large bids that will include content writing
  • Owning a specific technology area and becoming the Subject Matter Expert (SME)
  • Responsible for architecting complex solutions and handing over to Implementation
  • Accountable for keeping current with Hosting market and technology
  • Coaching sales and other SE’s
  • Actively contributes to strategic planning at both account market level
  • Work with all areas of business operations in developing solution for prospects
