Johnson Johnson is recruiting for a Solutions Architect. This position can be located in Raritan, NJ or Beerse, Belgium.

The Solutions Architect is responsible for the definition and guidance of application architecture direction in alignment with business objectives. He/she ensures that new IT investments comply with agreed JJ IT global standards. The successful candidate will have a generic applications design and integration background and is familiar with Enterprise Architecture at all levels. The candidate will have strong and broad knowledge of IT infrastructure as well as -specific platforms, including factory systems (ex. CAMSTAR, Werum, LIMS/Labware, Empower and Wonderware) and non-JDE and SAP ERP platforms.

The candidate will have senior-level architecture, design, and development responsibilities for globally scalable, operationally sustainable information technology infrastructure solutions, with subject matter expertise focused on Enterprise servers (X86 and IA64), database platforms, networking (WAN, isolated computing environments), storage infrastructure (SAN arrays, SAN switches, and backup environment), and associated management software and JJ IT's evolving hardware standards. He/she is required to develop high-level system / functional specifications and to identity the business requirements that drive them. This includes collaborating with IT/SS and BU/IT specialists / engineers, translating customer requirements and functional specifications into detailed technical requirements, and developing those solutions.

This position will lead teams to provide technology lifecycle capabilities, architecture, design, development, engineering, deployment, and third-tier support. The successful candidate must have senior level subject matter expertise and related experience with the HP-UX, Linux, Windows, X86 and IA64 hardware, Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server database platforms, storage products (HP-XP, HP-EVA, NAS, Brocade SAN switches, etc.), backup infrastructure (NetBackup, tape silos, VTL, etc.), and associated management tools. Familiarity with JJ IAPP requirements and information security practices is mandatory. Knowledge of business continuity and disaster recovery methodologies and best practices is required. He/she will have excellent technical and non-technical problem-solving and communication skills, and must have experience adopting ITIL and/or other industry best practices to processes and supporting technologies. The incumbent must be an out-of-box thinker capable of working independently, with teams, and/or with leading teams, flexible, adaptable, and self motivated. He/she must have experience with large-scale enterprise server design, complex system deployments and project planning. Previous exposure to and employment with an Operating Company is strongly preferred.

Specific responsibilities will include the following;

Develop relationships and become an information conduit between IT/SS engineering teams, BU/IT and enterprise architecture functions
Define and implement effective application architecture directions. Use and advocate the use of architecture and design best practices, methodologies, and procedures for optimized application delivery
Document current IT architecture and define the future state architecture based on identified solution gaps, and create the roadmaps to implement
Provide architecture and process advice, planning guidance, quality assurance, and guidance to all levels of organizations on project approach and solutions
Translate JJ IAPP and Strategic Standards Board policies into IT solutions that meet or exceed BU/IT requirements
Decompose the opportunities into constituent application solutions, with re-usable components. Harvest intellectual property from engagements or solutions that can be developed into best practices for reuse
Identify new areas where business value can be generated by further standardizing and leveraging solutions across
Meet with technical and business leaders to identify and scope the business opportunities and identify potential risks and constraints
Evaluate new technology, processes and architectural trends and highlight possible business opportunities
Ensure that solutions leveraging third-party technology complement the "One I/T" and "Managing Out of Legacy" strategies
Maintain relationships with vendors to understand their application roadmaps Build and maintain strong relationships with other architects in JJ, in particular, those within BU/IT

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in computing, engineering or a related field combined with at least 10 years of relevant experience is required. A Post graduate degree in a business field strongly preferred. Demonstrable Process Expertise is required. Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Process or Design Excellence certification is preferred. Proven, demonstrable experience with the delivery of medium to large IT projects ($250,000 - $2.5MM) is required. Demonstrable understanding of latest IT architecture, technology, solutions, and industry trends is required. Experience with conceptual, logical, and physical architecture designs is required. The ability to translate Business Architecture into a Technical Architecture is preferred. IT certifications i.e. MCSE or Cisco certifications are preferred. ITIL V3 certification is preferred. Ability to act as a senior consultant when required, to provide technical and business process guidance, and differentiate between "must have" and "nice to have" project requirements. Have good interpersonal, leadership, collaboration, facilitation and negotiation skills. A good presenter who is able to translate and clearly formulate technical issues.
