Solutions Architect / Technical Administrator – Microsoft BI Technologies recruitment
Market Operations and Technology (MOT) provides technology and market operations to Macquarie's businesses.
The MOT Technology Division is responsible for:
- Managing Macquarie Group's technology infrastructure
- Supporting, maintaining, and enhancing existing business systems
- Delivering and deploying new systems, technologies, and services
The MOT EDD FMG team require a permanent Solutions Architect / Technical Administrator to support the Corporate Data Program (CDP). This role is part of the Application Infrastructure Services (AIS) team within MOT EDD FMG who have responsibility to provide solutions architecture, technical administration and development services to other MOT EDD FMG service teams.
Due to the criticality of the CDP environment a Solutions Architect / Technical Administrator is required to provide environment management, architecture and application troubleshooting as well as release and change management design expertise.
The primary application being supported by this role is a custom built data warehouse used for Regulatory Reporting purposes and is utilising the Microsoft technology stack.

- Windows Operating Systems
- SQL Server database platforms
- SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
- SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)
- SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
- SharePoint Portal Server
- Team Foundation Server (TFS)
- Powershell scripting
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide Microsoft solutions architecture expertise across the Microsoft Database and BI stack of products
- Provide 3rd level technical troubleshooting expertise
- Provide design oversight to the implementation of a formal change and release management process including the initial setup, configuration and implementation
- Database and application performance tuning
- Lead, coordinate and implement technology upgrades
- Proactively engage with other infrastructure teams as required
- Assist with the design of an application level patching process
- Capacity management - monitoring and expansion requirements
- Define and implement environment refresh processes
Key Skills
- Degree Qualified - Computer Science and/or Information Technology and/or Engineering
- 7+ years experience working in technical roles - preferably on a combination of operations support and project based work
- 5+ years experience working with the Microsoft database and BI technologies
- Internally driven to provide outstanding service to stakeholders
- An appreciation of key business drivers and an understanding of the IT impact on the business so as to assist with setting and managing changing and conflicting priorities
- The ability to deliver on tight time frames
- The ability to work well under pressure
- The ability to work on multiple tasks/projects and technologies in parallel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong commitment to completion and on time delivery of tasks/projects assigned
- Ability to think strategically and remain focused on the big picture while responding to immediate business demands
- Strong conceptual understanding of Microsoft based database, operating system and BI technologies
- Conceptual understanding of hardware, virtualisation and networking configurations
