Purpose of the Role
- To lead a team of sourcing professionals to devise, develop and implement tailored procurement strategies and procedures for the Professional Services Category.
- To provide senior level guidance Group-wide on a global/regional scale.
- Provide Group-wide leadership on the definition of innovative strategies and frameworks for Professional Services Sourcing to deliver world-class sourcing in conjunction with all local, regional and global business areas across the RBS group.
- Manage Group Sourcing Vendor Management’s (Procurement Services) relationship with Senior Management and Executives across the Group, particularly with both the Divisional and Regional Boards, for all sourcing requirements and oversee delivery of supplier management needs within remit.
- Be primary engagement contact for regional RBS Group Business leaders.
- Lead develop team of procurement professionals.
- Define the Global strategy and deliver business plans in conjunction with the internal businesses and suppliers, to ensure that all external expenditure within remit is managed to maximise value for the Group and all business-critical supply chain projects are delivered on time.
- Define and deliver continuous supply chain improvement for Group Sourcing Vendor Management, working with the Business Partners and suppliers – including strategic management of all continuous improvement activities within the unit.
- Develop and maintain an effective business model for management of marketing suppliers in conjunction with Vendor Management, Outsourcing and Supply Chain Risk teams.
- Lead Procurement Services’s global relationships with relevant key stakeholders and suppliers.
- Drive change, lead multi-functional project teams and develop creative and innovative solutions for complex requirements.
Deliverables
1) Purchasing Spend, Benefits Risk
- Create global/regional strategies to deliver year on year targeted sourcing benefits on annual spend.
- Responsible for influencing Professional Services category spend in APAC as well as other regions where feasible.
- Create global/regional strategies to accelerate and deliver sourcing benefits resulting from any RBS Merger or Acquisition and driven from any asset disposal or divestment.
- Provide supply chain leadership, commercial management and lead roll out of key contracts for agreed global sourcing categories
- Minimise commercial and legal risk across all areas within remit
- Manage supply chain risk, in particular for business critical services.
- Maximise the team’s contribution to the eSourcing programme.
- Working with Procurement Services Infrastructure, lead and drive activities to maximise adoption and compliance to the Group’s approved Purchase to Pay channels and processes for all spend within remit.
2) Strategy Development
- Lead the development and management of global sourcing strategies within remit. Drive innovative process improvements and market leading commercial solutions.
- Market commercial and service propositions to key suppliers.
- Contribute to the development of purchasing and supply chain improvement strategies activities for RBS Group, globally.
- Lead the integration of new acquisitions into existing commercial arrangements to provide seamless transition into Group operating model and contracts.
3) Relationship Supplier Management
- Oversee the delivery of Supplier Management activities working closely with Vendor Management contract management teams to deliver measurable ongoing benefits (post contract award) to drive compliance to contract.
- Provide market leading commercial and service propositions to support internal business requirements and drive innovation across the supplier market
- Build excellent relationships with key internal business partners at Senior Management and Executive level
- Support enhanced supplier management, working with the Vendor Management Team, for key strategic suppliers at CEO/Board level on a global basis (‘Key strategic suppliers’ deliver business-critical processes to one or more Group divisions
People Management
- Lead a team of purchasing professionals. Must have the ability to lead, manage and develop a team of purchasing professionals and motivate individual members. Represent the requirements of the individual team members within the wider department and organisation
- Provide strategic direction to Purchasing Professional across the region(s).
- Member of the Procurement Services APAC Management Team.
- Represent Procurement Services on Group Wide Executive Forums

1) Essential Experience
- Significant professional Services sourcing / commercial experience within the indirect Services Sourcing area.
- Relevant experience in Line Management.
- Proven track record in people management, strategy development, project delivery and stakeholder management.
- Strong experience in developing and implementing global category sourcing strategies; Professional Services in particular.
- Track record of engagement and influencing internally and externally at senior levels.
- Significant experience of globally influencing and externally influencing at senior executive/Board level.
