Job Description
This is a permanent full-time position with the Strategic Sourcing Group (SSG) of Canadian Pacific. The focus of the position is to apply that Sourcing expertise in a cross-functional team environment to support the sourcing and procurement requirements of the Company in the area of Technology and Telecommunication. Emphasis in the area of Telecommunication, which includes Wireless services for a variety of internal customers.
Responsibilities
- Contributes to a team effort to develop and implement sourcing plans for a range of goods and services. Responsible for providing the commercial perspective of the buy to the customer (i.e. price, terms, delivery and business specifications) and negotiating purchases as required by the internal Canadian Pacific customer.
- The Specialist Sourcing will assist the department in achieving the targets of the team by delivering cost savings through the application of sourcing and procurement best practice processes and appropriate analytical techniques.
- Leads Cross-Functional teams in completion of the sourcing process cycle, which incorporates the following:
Develops Requests for Information / Proposals (RFI, RFP) as required. Analyzes bids, information and proposals, develops alternatives, performs value analysis to determine best price/value relationships and makes recommendations.
Negotiates contracts for goods and/or services required by internal customers.
Develops contract agreements, incorporating results of negotiations and best business practices.
Develops Business Cases providing the business reasons for the recommendation.
Oversees implementation and effective application of agreements for contract term.
- Recommends long and short term sourcing strategies for reducing total ownership costs of goods and services based on economic, financial and market research and analysis of the supply base and demand variables, identifying pricing targets for CP, as appropriate, through the use of various benchmarking and analytical tools.
- Identifies savings opportunities within the portfolio and develops strategies to realize these savings through the application of sourcing and procurement best practice processes.
- Negotiates contracts for goods and/or services required by user departments in keeping with identified strategies.
Job Requirements
At least 5-8 years experience in the sourcing of Telecommunication goods and services; with significant experience in negotiation and contract development.
The incumbent must be a detail-oriented, self starter with strong initiative. The Ideal Candidate will have:
- University Degree in Information Technology, Commerce, Finance or MBA highly desired.
- Knowledge of Information Technology and processes and/or experience in Information Systems highly desired
- Strong analytical skills, strategic thinker, solid business case analysis skills and ability to translate customer technical requirements into sourcing deliverables
- Solid financial analysis, analytical, organizational and time management skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and to work both independently and in a team environment,
- Experience in leading project teams and developing related project plans.
- Strong written and oral communications skills
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to work well in cross functional teams
- Strong focus on delivering to internal customer requirements
- Proficiency in all Microsoft applications, with good working knowledge in Excel. Knowledge in SAP would be an asset
