SOX Compliance Associate recruitment
In the Financial Reporting Controls ("FCR") role, the individual will help coordinate the review, testing and evaluation of controls for the Finance Department. This consists of carrying out the Sarbanes Oxley ("SOX") Compliance program, which includes evaluating the existing program, modifying the program to enhance efficiency and effectiveness and contributing to the design and implementation of the Governance Risk and Compliance ("GRC") initiative.
In this FCR coordination role, the individual is able to provide an organized and effective approach to documenting and testing controls with the business to support the SOX compliance process. This individual actively works with the control owners in Finance and business unit processes and coordinates with various control disciplines (e.g., service organization reporting, internal audit, operational risk management and technology risk management). On a regular basis, this individual will help to provide status updates and discuss SOX related emerging topics with senior management. A successful candidate in this role will develop strong relationships across BlackRock, while developing a broad understanding of the products and services offered by the Firm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Update the annual risk assessment for SOX Compliance which includes scoping, risk identification and evaluation; mapping of key controls and determination of testing strategies
- Update and maintain the SOX Compliance policy that documents the process to monitor the execution, status and results of SOX Compliance
- Assist in the coordination of global SOX testing
- Work with the business to provide advice throughout the SOX process to continually enhance internal controls and create an efficient and effective SOX compliance process
- Understand external audit requirements to provide appropriate internal control and management testing documentation that meets external auditor needs
- Support the implementation of a coordinated SOX approach through the use of an automated GRC tool (Archer)
- Assist in monitoring a project plan to projected timelines
- Coordination of recertification of key controls through Archer
- Document and evaluate control deficiencies and ensure that appropriate remediation steps are taken
- Perform management testing of key controls
- Assist in coordination of management's testing and review the design and operational effectiveness assessment work papers related to controls
- Prepare status reporting to the Steering Committee and other meetings
- Demonstrate knowledge of key guidance (The Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission ("COSO")) and other PCAOB and SEC requirements supporting the FCR process
- Communicate effectively both internally and externally to build positive relationships across the business, control functions and with external audit
Experience and skill sets:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA or CPA in progress preferred
- 3 - 6 years of prior work experience
- Strong project management, organizational, interpersonal skills, and communication skills
- Possess a strong internal drive and motivation for continuous improvement
- Possess a high degree of integrity and skepticism
- Ability to manage multiple priorities successfully within a deadline-driven environment
