SOX IT Manager

A new role has opened in one of the world's biggest banks as a SOX IT Manager for a contract position. Executing SOX responsibilities, which primarily consists of assessing the design and operational effectiveness of IT controls, performing appropriate planning/ reviews/ testing, making recommendations as appropriate, so as to deliver year-end SOX sign-off in relation to the team's remit in line with Group Methodology and timeframes.

Key Responsibilities

- The Wholesale Banking SOX Risk Assurance team operates carries out (i) SOX 404 E2E risks controls assessments, controls evaluation and testing and (ii) additional Risk Capital Assurance (RCA) work to support the Group's sign-off on various FSA returns.

- Executing SOX responsibilities, which primarily consists of assessing the design and operational effectiveness of IT controls, performing appropriate planning/ reviews/ testing, making recommendations as appropriate, so as to deliver year-end SOX sign-off in relation to the team's remit in line with Group Methodology and timeframes.

- Assisting with annual planning and monthly monitoring of targets

- Assessment testing of the effectiveness of the overall controls environment and key IT application functionality and general computer controls within that environment

- Execution of Application Risk Assessments and delivery of IT data flows

- Assessing the impact of change projects on current SOX environment and updating documentation as required.

- Execution of toxic combinations/ access based reviews

- Perform appropriate IT testing of the key controls/processes for in scope IT applications (in particular client server applications) related general computer controls, and end-user-computing applications within demanding timescales in line with SOX Group standards and guidelines.

- Assist with the accurate recording, maintenance and reporting of the results of testing on SOX Express (Open Pages) in line with Group standards and guidelines.

- Maintain regular contact with departmental managers and staff in the respective business units, to gain their agreement for the results of controls assessment and testing, and for any remedial action.

- Maintain contact with external audit, to assist their reliance on the SOX team's work.

- Manage or participate in project pre-implementation reviews as required by the SOX IT Senior Manager.

Skills Required

- Educated to degree level or equivalent.

- Previous SOX experience.

- Previous IT audit experience.

- Accountancy qualification with CISA, CISM, QICA or IIA qualification or equivalent

- Database/ VBA programming skills desirable.

- A good understanding of the risks/ controls, and interdependencies between IT and non IT controls, within end-to-end processes.
