SOX & Regulatory Accountant

An international business activities truly span the globe, with a combined workforce of more than 250,000 staff and more than 25 overseas offices.

This new position whilst is based in London, will report to the Wholesale SOX manager based in the US and also will also have a line to the CFO for the EMEA region.

This standalone role will work closely with the fast growing international accounting and finance teams enhancing their effectiveness in meeting all requirements of the position.

Key responsibilities include;

• As a member of the Wholesale Banking team, the position oversees compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) guidelines for both SEC and Regulatory Reporting, concentrating on the International Group within Wholesale Banking.
• Assess the internal control environment over Information Technology structure of the International Group.
• Develop, implement and monitor internal controls and testing the operational effectiveness of the internal controls covering both financial and regulatory reporting.
• Evaluation of findings for control effectiveness and their degree of severity and significance to the operating and financial reporting control environment is another key function of the position.
• The SOX SEC/Regulatory accountant will interface with International business line operations, accounting, finance and risk compliance counterparts as well as prepare status and results reports for Wholesale senior management.
• Will also act as a consultant to the business line in areas of control evaluation and recommendations for improvements to the control environment.
• The Wholesale SOX team and its team members interact closely with the corporate Financial Oversight Management Consulting (FOMC) unit which oversees SOX compliance guidelines for the company.
• Milestone dates for deliverable deadlines are set annually by FOMC allowing for adequate planning for the year. Our client utilizes quarterly control assessment testing as support for the publically reported quarterly financial statements and regulatory reporting. The role often serves as a liaison between internal and external auditors.

The successful candidate will have;

• ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA or equivalent
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance (or equivalent work experience) required.
• Prior experience with Internal Audit or SOX 404 internal controls evaluation and design is preferred.
• Information Systems auditing experience preferred.
• Other projects may be assigned.
• Attention to detail, possess strong analytical skills and be capable of communicating effectively (both written and oral).
• Must have a strong understanding of the principles of internal controls evidenced by relevant work experience.
• Information technology general control experience is a plus.
• Must be proficient in both Microsoft Word and Excel.
