SOX Risk and Control Specialist
Global financial services company with investment, corporate and retail banking and wealth management divisions is seeking a strong risk and controls candidate to help define, build and integrate their global SOX controls framework.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking for a varied and challenging position where you will be involved in a BAU and project related work within this global team. The main focus of the role sits in the Corporate and Investment Banking division, however this team leads the steering committee on SOX development for Wealth and Retail. Therefore you will be gaining a broad exposure to all elements of the bank and senior stakeholders within. Responsibilities:
- Perform Design Effectiveness Assessment (DEA) for CIB which would involve updating process documentation, compiling flows charts, completing risk assessments, identifying and documenting key controls; supporting the business in completing DEA assessment and obtaining sign off within agreed timelines.
- Perform Quality Assurance Reviews (QAR) over Operating Effectiveness Testing (OET); provide written feedback to improve quality of testing and to embed best practice.
- Perform Operating Effectiveness testing of SOX controls; review and challenge current control environment and ensure best practice is maintained.
- Establish and maintain strong partnership with business areas.
- Facilitate the quarterly attestation sign off process.
- Conduct SOX training sessions to assist in embedding a robust SOX control framework
- Assist in the New Product Approval (NPA) process to ensure new products and projects are assessed for SOX impact and comply with the SOX framework.
- Contribute to projects aimed at improving the control environment.
- Liaise with external auditors to facilitate efficient interaction with the business during the annual audit process.
- Monitor and assist the business to remediate internal / external audit points to enable audit issues are cleared according to agreed timescales.
- Collate relevant metrics and report the required information to the Global Finance team on a monthly basis.
Candidate requirements:
- Strong experience in risk and control within financial services.
- Good knowledge of front to back investment banking processes is desirable.
- Knowledge of investment banking asset classes is desirable, e.g. equities, FICC, etc.
- SOX experience is desirable, but not essential.
- People from a product control, internal audit or operational risk background will be considered.
- Qualified accountants will also be considered if they have relevant experience listed above.
- Ability to work autonomously and in a small team.
- Excellent communication skills.
