Job Summary:
Position will be primarily responsible for Global Spares Demand Planning/Forecasting at Alcon LenSx Laser. This position will coordinate day to day activity of planning the spare parts requirements to support field service. Implements and monitors tooling forecasts, RMA returns/disposition, and rework of parts within MRP and confirms data is driving correctly. Ensures QAD inventory transactions are completed for work order issuance, work order closure, MO/SO processing, and any inventory transfers. This position will maintain a working knowledge of all warehouse duties which include receiving, inventory control, shipping duties, and all production planning functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyses the daily and weekly shipments of spare parts to field to develop an accurate forecast for replenishment.
- Interfaces with the RMA Manager to build and stock field service tooling assemblies, RMA rework parts, and any spare parts that require special handling, i.e. programming of hard drives.
- Interfaces with the QC RMA Specialist to expedite/assist the RMA processing function.
- Interfaces with the Service Op's team to ensure RMA parts are returned on a timely basis.
- Performs materials expediting activities to the RMA manufacturing floor accurately.
- Implements and maintains MRP production plan and coordinates changes to demand with departments affected.
- Performs inventory level checks to ensure RMA manufacturing point-of-use materials are sufficiently stocked.
- Performs all duties required to assist in processing work orders for components and sub assemblies in QAD.
- Implement production schedule changes into MRP using released procedures and guidelines.
- Ensures Kanban bins are moving through the cycle in an expeditious manner, reports on any out of cycle requirements to production and materials management (Production Control Activities).
- Review closed work orders to determine root cause of variances to ensure corrective actions are implemented to reduce work order variances.
- Ensures item master is set up properly to drive material requirements effectively working with purchasing and manufacturing.
- Expedites materials and items through receiving, incoming quality inspection, to the manufacturing floor, storage areas or requestors of material.
- Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, or other stock items and distributes items to production workers or assembly line.
- Maintains MRP to ensure materials requirements are driving to an approved forecast/material plan.
- Prepares material shortage reports and works with buyers to ensure supply and manages changes to production plan.
- Works to reduce lead-time's, coordinates movement of material from RMA, MRB, RTS or RWK locations in a timely manner working with quality, engineering and purchasing.
- Performs Cycle Counting activities and all necessary reports to support this activity, Pareto Analysis on errors, percentage of accuracy, including physical inventories as required by company.
- Ensures back flushing activities are performed routinely and timely.
- Maintains a working knowledge and specific ERP system process development in the areas of material management.
- Works with Purchasing and Manufacturing to complete ECO implementation, phase in phase out activities.
- Collaborates with the production planners, as needed, to ensure business objectives are maintained
Qualification Requirements:
- B.S. degree (or equivalent of 8 to 10 years related exp.) and APICS CPIM certification required.
- Five years related experience and / or training in materials, forecasting, and planning in medical device industry.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Inventory software and Manufacturing software.
- Advanced in Microsoft Excel and Word
- QAD MRP experience, Cebos/Agile or electronic Doc Control System, SAP preferred
