Special Asset Management Analyst – Chicago, IL recruitment
-Position requires the review and analysis of property information, financial statements, legal documents, and third party reports.
-Position will be expected to respond to inbound information, requests, and other communications received by borrowers, investors, and management.
-Perform special servicing and analytical functions for a portfolio of multifamily assets.
-Support the Special Asset Management team at various points in an asset’s life cycle by:
- Obtaining and reviewing financial and operating information from a variety of sources for the purposes of preparing comprehensive property, borrower, and fund level analyses
- Preparing summaries of key financial and operating statistics including trends, variances, reforecast projections, and monthly variance reports
- Developing and maintain cash flow projections
- Working closely with internal and external accountants and management companies to resolve all accounting and reporting issues
- Scheduling site visits requested by lenders, agencies, and/or investors
- Assisting in the review and preparation of annual budgets
- Monitoring property operations and adherence to budget, business plans, and governing agreements (including financial tests, insurance and tax payments, reserves, capital improvements, expense monitoring, etc.)
- Organizing fund and property documentation
- Preparing and gathering market information
- Attending workout meetings and negotiations
- Preparing internal requests for approval by the executive asset management committee including asset resolution recommendations
- Completing quarterly risk ratings and generating periodic ad hoc reports, analyses, and memos for management and other internal departments
REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Economics
- 1-3 years of experience in real estate or corporate finance, preferably in real estate (candidate must have at least 2 years of professional analytical experience to be considered for Associate level).
- Preferred backgrounds include Real Estate finance experience, regulatory and/or public finance experience, agency (FNMA/FMAC/FHA) experience, credit training, multifamily investment analysis and/or Property Management experience, and Affordable housing experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or other financial analysis software
- Ability to perform cash flow modeling (IRR, NPV, etc.) and to interpret operating statements and other financial information
- Ability to read and analyze legal documents including servicing agreements, bond and/or loan documents, and equity partnership investment documents
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Responsible, articulate and capable of representing the department to senior management and must have well developed interpersonal skills for communicating with industry professionals.
- Familiarity with real estate due diligence a plus
