Specialty Coffee Trader
The position will involve making key commercial decisions including sourcing in origin countries, marketing to specialty roasters, identifying successful trading strategies and cupping/evaluating coffee samples.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build commercial relationships with customers and suppliers and manage a portfolio of diverse customers.
- Negotiate contracts to agree prices, quality, delivery and specifications.
- Devise and implement commercial strategies in order to grow the business and increase the customer base.
- Provide input into the development of the company’s coffee trading strategy.
- Manage and report counterparty risks associated with contracts including in-depth understanding of customer and market risk.
- Ensure timely execution of contracts and deliveries to customers.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in international trade, economics, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in coffee trading and cupping.
- Knowledge of different coffee qualities.
- Knowledge of contract terms and of import/export logistics processes.
- Understanding of the global coffee supply chain including coffee production, processing, shipping and manufacturing.
- Knowledge of futures and hedging.
- Ability to work independently within a small team of experts.
- Excellent communication skills and cultural awareness to successfully manage a diverse portfolio of clients and suppliers.
- Willingness to travel at short notice to any destination worldwide.
