Spectrum Management Engineer Job in Fort Meade, Maryland US

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, and job-related experience or equivalent is required. Experience with technical data fields for DD Form 1494/EL-CID is also required. Expertise in specific areas including AIMS and DoD Mode S, Federal Radar Spectrum Engineering Criteria, Navy Broadband, or JTIDS/MIDS is preferred. Good communications and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs is essential.

Position may require travel.

Position requires the ability to pass and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Most positions involve work typical of office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting with occasional use of computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must posses planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines. Some positions involve work in environments (e.g., shipboard, labs, outside locations, etc.) where mechanical equipment, weapons, etc. are being installed, tested, analyzed/monitored, operated, and/or maintained. Equipment may be loud and noisy or have exposed moving components. Such positions may involve routine lifting up to 50 pounds, regular handling, grasping, kneeling and carrying, and constant use of vision and mental alertness is required.

Job Description:
This position is contingent on contract award.

URS is seeking an Engineer to provide spectrum management experience and technical engineering support to the NMSC. Demonstrate experience with technical data fields for DD Form 1494/EL-CID to prepare engineering analysis for frequency certification and frequency assignment requests. Assist in determining the electromagnetic compatibility and spectrum supportability of Navy communications-electronics systems. Demonstrate experience with reviewing assignments due for 5 and 10-year review in SFAF and GMF formats. Expertise in specific areas including AIMS and DoD Mode S, Federal Radar Spectrum Engineering Criteria, Navy Broadband applications, or JTIDS/MIDS is preferred.
The selected Engineer will perform a variety of engineering assignments in planning and overseeing research, development, design, manufacture, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of diverse electronic/mechanical equipment and systems and generally as a member of a design, analysis or review team on more complex assignments or as a lead on less complex assignments.

Essential Responsibilities:
Perform a range of design development, analysis or review tasks under minimal supervision.
Work with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements.
Maintain a filing system or databases as needed for tracking project status.
Assist with the development of technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications.
Communicate with customers at all levels in technical working groups, etc.
Conduct experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations.
Comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.

Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
