An outstanding opportunity to join a leading Fund Manager has arisen for an agile, proactive and highly skilled SQL Server DBA with excellent SQL Server 2005 / 2008 and ideally 2012 skills, with good knowledge of T-SQL and SSIS / SSRS, who wants to make a clear and visible difference.

The role will include responsibilities across Support, Development and UAT as much as focusing on Database Administration. The SQL Server estate is made up of SQL Server 2005 and 2008 Databases, with SQL Server 2012 currently in production. You will be heavily involved in releases, with up to 10 releases a distinct possibility for a normal working week.
The role will require the successful candidate to roll up their sleeves, get involved with the performance tuning and enhancing of the Databases and make headway in terms of the wider support function.

The successful candidate will:

• Provide ongoing maintenance and support for all test and pre-production environments
• Monitor SQL databases for errors to provide resolution
• Ensure SQL database environments are regularly maintained and running at optimum performance levels
• Manage backup and recovery of SQL databases
• Control user database security in Production and UAT environments
• Provide 3rd line support to the Application Support and Core Systems teams when required
• Work within an ITIL framework and supporting the change management processes
• Perform QA and releases into test environments
• Assist with enhancements and suggest improvements in the quality of the release practices and procedures

Essential Skills:

• SQL Server 2005 and 2008 (SQL 2012 a bonus)
• T-SQL (Transact-SQL)
• SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) / SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
• Experienced in dealing with 200+ SQL Server Incidences
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
