We have an immediate need for a SQL Server DBA- Permanent Position
Job Description:
Overall Responsibility: As a database administrator, your responsibilities will be to oversee and support important database systems that span across multiple systems throughout the organization. You will be responsible for identifying weaknesses in the current infrastructure and developing and upholding standards and guidelines to protect the integrity of key business data. Responsibilities include but are not limited to installation, configuration, upgrades, capacity planning, tuning, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
• Install, configure, and support SQL Server in both clustered and non-clustered systems
• Apply best practices to security standards
• Performance tune indexes, hardware, and queries
• Plan database and server level capacity
• Maintain Backup and Recovery procedures
• Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to gather information for new work requests or to determine and implement resolutions to existing problems
• Sarbanes Oxley Reporting
• Apply Service Packs and hot fixes as necessary
• Understanding of SQL Server licensing in both virtual and physical environments
Required Skills:
• At least 6 years full-time experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator, working directly with SQL Server 2000, 2005 and SQL Server 2008
• Experience managing large and mission critical databases
• Proficiency in performance and tuning of database systems
• Working knowledge of implementing and supporting high availability solutions
• Ability to write and optimize TSQL scripts and queries
• Reporting Services, Integration Services, and Analysis Services experience desired but not required
• Ability to provide support in 24x7 on-call rotation
• Implementation and support experience in a global environment is preferred
• Ability to effectively work in a team where other team members may be located throughout the world
• Must have the ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently
• Experience with a formal change control process
• Good organizational skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Excellent troubleshooting skills
Desired:
• Experience administering Oracle instances on AIX or LINUX
• Basic Windows system administration skills
• Experience with .NET Framework terminology and features
• An understanding of SQL Licensing
• Powershell scripting
