SQL Server DBA recruitment

The technology division is hiring an SQL DBA to join the team, the DBA team oversees all SQL Servers across all environments, in addition it assists in the design and development of database schema and code.

The DBA team is responsible for:

• Monitoring database performance, identifying bottlenecks, and proposing ways to optimize performance.

• Development of new trading instruments and instrument types as new products are released.

• Maintenance of existing trading instruments, and managing updates to their underlying data.

• Installation of new servers, and upgrade of existing servers with regard to service packs and new versions.

• Managing data backup and restores required for disaster recovery.

• Working with development teams to incorporate database changes required for release rollouts.

• The provision of extremely high levels of availability for the production, demonstration and test systems.

• Resolution of any problems in these systems in a timely and professional manner.

• Ensuring compliance with company security procedures.

Work experience / background

• To be able to demonstrate experience of supporting an existing large database / high transactional volume system to very high levels of availability.

• Experience of financial systems and especially trading systems.

• Able to demonstrate experience of adding a range of enhancements to an existing large system in a manner which minimises risk to a production environment, but maximises the speed of development and quality.

Technical / Business skills and knowledge

• Proven DBA experience is essential using Microsoft SQL Server (2005/2008).

• Experience analysing database performance and query optimization.

• Experience with transactional and merge replication.

• Experience using Quest Software’s range of products.
