My client, a global financial institution and major force in the multi asset brokerage industry require a SQL Oracle DBA. Your main responsibilities will include installing, configuring, managing and maintaining multiple MS SQL and Oracle databases, evaluate new specifications and requirements against available solutions and input into designs and implement requirements for Online Transaction Processing (OLTP), Data Warehousing, Online Analytical Processing (OLAP), High Availability and Load Balancing.

Other responsibilities will include:
- Input into the strategic roadmap for databases within the organisation
- Recommend modifications for third party software products and act as a liaison to software    
  vendors to meet user needs
- Recommend and monitor best practices and standards
- Perform replication, clustering, performance tuning and optimization (query optimization, 
  index tuning, caching and buffer tuning)
- Manage Memory, CPU and I/O performance as well as assure database health
- Perform appropriate back up, restoration, patching and upgrades of databases (including DR)
- Perform operational procedures and support (including data modelling, replication,
  administration, maintenance, performance monitoring/optimization, capacity planning, space
  management and recovery)
- Ensure system integrity and efficiency

Required Experience

- 10 + years experience as a DBA
- At least 5 to 10 years appropriate experience on:
   - MS SQL Server 2000 / 2005 / 2008
   - Windows and Unix/Linux
- At least 3 to 5 years appropriate experience on:
   - Oracle 10g / 11g
   - Database design concepts and network operating systems
   - Up to date with current database architectures and emerging database technologies
   - Database Security
   - Database Networking
   - OLTP (Online Transaction Processing) and DSS (Decision Support Systems), Data -
     Warehousing, OLAP
 - Experience of Pervasive a plus
 - Certified DBA a plus
 - Financial experience would be a plus
 - Bachelors Degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering or Computer Sciences or equivalent
   experience

- MS SQL Server 200x, installation, configuration, planning migration, replication and upgrade  
  experience, SSIS, SSRS
- MS SQL Server configuration and optimization
- MS SQL Server High Availability solutions
- Oracle database installation, configuration, planning, migration, upgrading, SQL, PL/SQL,
  T/SQL
- Oracle database High Availability solutions including Oracle RAC
- Oracle database RMAN, DataGuard, Oracle RAC, Logical Standby, Archivelog management, -
  Advanced Replication
- Oracle Enterprise Manager (10g and up), Oracle Grid Control
- Windows, Unix Solaris and Linux: commands, tools and utilities, scripting skills
- ETL skills
- Partitioning, Index management, Undo management
