Sr. Accountant Job in San Jose 95134, California US

Position Summary:
The primary function of this position is to act as a liaison between the Apache US and its foreign subsidiaries.  The objective of the position will be to ensure that the financial results of the aforementioned subsidiaries are properly reported based on U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), as well as to provide the subsidiaries with financial and operational support, as required.

Essential Job Functions/Accountabilities:

-Preparing and assisting with analysis of consolidated financial statements.
-Responsible for ensuring proper accounting for assigned subsidiaries are in accordance with U.S. GAAP.  This includes the review of monthly reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts and flux analysis for all income statement accounts.
-For those subsidiaries not yet on Oracle, the accountant will be responsible for recording the monthly activity based on financial information provided by the accounting firm.
-Preparation and/or review of assigned subsidiary cash flow statements, intercompany payments and review of budget versus actual reports.
-Review and monitor global manual journal entries.
-Responsible for analyzing, reviewing and booking U.S. prepaids and accruals.
-Maintain revenue worksheet and other schedules for 10-K disclosures.
-Other projects as assigned by department management.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

Education/Training/Work Experience:

-BA/BS degree in Accounting or Finance, Accounting degree preferred.
-5-7 years experience, minimum of 3 years in Big 4 or public accounting is strongly preferred.
-Experience with international subsidiary accounting is a plus.
-Experience in multi-level consolidations is a plus.
-Experience in revenue recognition is a plus.

 

Specialized Knowledge Skills:

-Strong technical and comprehensive knowledge of GAAP is required.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
-Excellent Microsoft office skill is required.
-Oracle experience is a plus.
-Public company experience and knowledge of SEC requirements is a plus.
-CPA preferred.
