SENIOR ANALYST, INVESTMENT SERVICES


TIAA-CREF is seeking a Sr. Analyst, in our Investment Services team to be based in Charlotte, NC or Newport Beach, CA. The right individual will focus on various aspects of commercial real estate, including financial operations, reporting, lease administration and Argus along with a broad understanding of commercial mortgage, private-equity, timber and agriculture assets.

Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with Property Managers in providing an efficient and effective process of transitioning acquired and disposed of investment properties through the TIAA operating infrastructure.
  • Assist with supporting the commercial lease function including the oversight of lease abstraction, including the interpretation of tenant contractual arrangements along with providing guidance in the use of Yardi 6.0 Commercial Management system primarily focused on lease setup, rent billings, operating expense recoveries, percentage rent, straight line rent, CPI billings along with other lease administration operations.
  • Create and maintain process documentation for real estate, mortgage and private equity fund investment related processes.
  • Strive to constantly offer process improvements and streamline the process, using a 'process improvement' mindset.
  • Provide operational metrics and control functions over operational processes.
  • Coordinate responses to real estate, mortgage and private equity fund investment-related inquiries from internal and external audit firms as well as the SOX controls teams.
  • Interact and build relationships with multiple areas of the company (including, but not limited to Asset Management, Acquisition and Disposition teams, Accounting, Treasury, Legal and third party Property Managers).
  • Compile investment committee reporting relating to our mortgage, real estate and fund investments.

Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of business experience in the Real Estate, or Mortgage or Real Asset Industry.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or Real Estate.
  • Solid experience with YARDI 6.0 Commercial Management System.
  • Strong understanding of lease structures and lease administration, operating expense recoveries, and other real estate experience.
  • Argus experience is a plus. Must have advanced MS Excel skills including proficiency in pivot tables, vlookup functions and other advanced Excel functions.
  • Proficient in MS Word and PowerPoint.
  • Customer-focused communication and relationship skills.
  • Strong understanding of business control functions a plus.
  • Must be very organized and diligent about following up on open issues.
  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong multi-task / prioritization skills while producing timely and accurate work.
  • Process Improvement or LEAN experience a plus.
  • Understanding of investment management concepts including Asset Management, Acquisitions, Dispositions, Portfolio Management, Property Valuations, and Accounting functions as well as various investment ownership structures (wholly-owned, joint venture, private equity fund, REITs).
