Job Description Position: Sr. Data Modeling Warehouse Architect Description: The Sr. data warehouse architect will play a key technical leadership role in defining the direction as well as implementing the major transformational data-related projects at TIAA-CREF in the Individual and Institutional (II) division. She/he will be responsible for leading the data warehouse and ODS modeling efforts for the II Operational applications, Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) functions and engaging with information / data management projects for the division ensuring their successful execution and continued alignment to the firm's architecture and data management direction. Responsibilities: ·Lead the effort to establish, define, maintain and communicate data architecture reference architectures, guidelines, standards and best practices within the ODS and EDW data model domain ·Provide technical leadership for solution architecture development and review with regard to data integration architecture design and implementation for all initiatives within the division. Develop and drive the review / approval of data integration specific Solution Definitions through the enterprise architecture review process. ·Own and manage the conceptual and logical data models for the EDW, ODS and any Data Marts ·Collaborate with the Data Modeling Architect and Business Intelligence architects and maintain awareness to all changes in ODS, EDW and Data Mart structures ·Collaborate closely with business analysts and data subject matter experts to ensure the ODS and EDW data model will properly support business needs. · Collaborate closely with other solution architects to define and implement effective and efficient solutions to business challenges and opportunities. ·Collaborate closely with Enterprise Architecture to ensure alignment of the EDW, ODS and Master Data Management data models are aligned as appropriate to ensure proper integration of data across the entire enterprise. This role will have significant role in influencing in the enterprise data model for the firm and will need to deliver data model designs using both Agile and Waterfall methodologies to multiple project teams · Work closely with database administration to establish and maintain highly resilient, scalable and high performance architecture as the model is implemented physically on the target platform(s). · Establish and own the data dictionary, data repository and data governance/stewardship of the data model for the EDW and Enterprise ODS. ·Develop and maintain a technical roadmap and investment plan for the evolution of enterprise data model for the EDW and Enterprise ODS. · Teradata and TTU is a must Qualifications Job Requirements / Qualifications: · A minimum of a bachelor of science in Computer Science, CIS/MIS or equivalent degree from an accredited four year institution. · A minimum of 5 years experience architecting large scale data systems with at least three large scale implementations with progressively larger degrees of responsibility and scope of implementation specifically focused on data modeling. · A minimum of 8 years of experience with data modeling (conceptual, logical and physical mode design), model management for ODS, EDW and Data Marts. · Knowledge of application modeling languages / techniques (e.g. UML, OML, entity relationship modeling, DFDs) including the ability to create and read the associated diagrams. · Strong working knowledge of IBM's Banking and Financial Data Warehouse Industry Models, IBM's Insurance Information Warehouse Models. · Extensive experience modeling data requirements based on complex business needs across multiple information domains with an emphasis on mapping to established industry models. ·Experience in the techniques of data mapping and the FASTTRACK tool of the IIS toolset · Solid experience with RDBMS and ODS structures including very clear understanding of the proper application of these solutions to business initiatives. Expert skills in normalization and 3NF structures supporting enterprise warehouses and a solid understanding of dimensional modeling. ·A proven ability to develop data models with proper atomic level granularity and time variant constructs to ensure the enterprise data assets are captured, stored, maintained and aged appropriately ·Solid understanding of transaction and information systems, data warehouses, data marts, ODS, MDM methodologies and life cycles as well as ETL and MDM technologies. ·Strong working knowledge of ERwin Data Modeler and IBM Rational Data Architect. ·Experience with IBM Metadata Server. ·Familiarity with performance tuning techniques in both the Teradata and Oracle environments such as partitioning, conditional RI, Bitmap indexes, Mviews, CUBEs, Dimension and fact definitions as well other de-normalization techniques. ·Experience relating to the implications of specific modeling / implementation techniques on both the Oracle and Teradata platforms. ·Excellent verbal and written communication skills. ·Excellent planning and execution skills with a proven ability to establish and meet impactful goals and objectives with regard to data modeling. ·5 to 7 years of experience working with financial services preferably with annuity, insurance, fixed income or mutual funds products ·Teradata and TTU with 5 -7 years of experience.
