Sr. Associate Middle Office

The Middle Office function at FIRM  reports the Chief Operations Office and is responsible for Portfolio Support and Confirmations. The Confirmations Group is responsible for the validation of the accuracy of all the economic terms and conditions for OTC derivatives trades and insuring that all such trades have signed confirmations evidencing the contractual agreement between FIRM and the counterparty. The Associates in the Confirmations Group will have to work with the Portfolio Managers, the Middle Office Trading Associates, and Legal to insure that the details of all OTC trades are properly reflected in the company’s trade capture, accounting, and risk management systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Validate all economic terms and conditions of derivatives trades versus the confirmation.

Liaise with Legal to insure all confirmations accurately reflect the agreed upon legal terms and conditions of the deal.

Track and provide management reports (KPIs) on the status of all OTC derivatives confirmations.

Liaise with the Portfolio Managers to ensure that trade confirmations are consistent with the Portfolio Managers’ understanding of the deal economics.

Assist the Middle Office Trading Associates to ensure all transactions are properly booked into Murex to reflect the economics of the deal.

Ensure all signed confirmations are captured and available in Murex.

Stay current on all ISDA requirements and other derivatives trade requirements. Ability to negotiate economic and contractual terms of OTC derivative transactions when in dispute with the counterparty.

Regular follow-up with counterparties to obtain missing documents and establish a rapport with our counterparties.

Provide advice to the Portfolio Managers on the Public Markets desk on ISDA language related to the terms and conditions of OTC derivative transactions.

Help identify and implement technology improvements as needed.

Maintain Middle Office compliance and controls.

QUALIFICATIONS EXPECTATIONS:

Bachelors degree.

Three to five years of Confirmations experience (preferred).

Strong communication skills.

Knowledge of OTC derivatives for various asset classes, including interest rates, foreign exchange, credit, and equity instruments (preferred).

An understanding of ISDA definitions.

Desire to work in a dynamic, demanding environment.

Ability to work under pressure of time and market, meet deadlines and collaborate with other departments is essential.

Highest ethical standards and understanding of compliance issues required.
